Sandalwood Essential Oil Sandalwood enhances deep sleep by stimulating the pineal gland which releases melatonin, which may help with insomnia. Sandalwood is also high in sesquiterpenes, bringing oxygen to the brain and increasing circulation. Sandalwood (Santalum album) has a rich, sweet, warm, and woody aroma that is sensual and romantic. Used traditionally as incense in religious ceremonies and for meditation, it is uplifting and relaxing.** It is valued in skin care for its moisturizing and normalizing properties. Sandalwood has an approximate ORAC of 1,655 (TE/L). Sandalwood was traditionally used for a variety of purposes, such as promoting healthy, beautiful skin and encouraging deeper meditation. Sandalwood is also supportive of the body's natural defenses.* How to Use Young Living's essential oil: Diffuse for aromatherapy, inhale directly, apply topically, or take as a dietary supplement. When using as a supplement, put one drop in a capsule or in 4 fl. oz. of soy or rice milk. Possible skin sensitivity. If pregnant or under a doctor's care, consult your physician. Dilution not required; suitable for all but the most sensitive skin. Generally safe for children over 2 years of age. The pineal gland produces melatonin and is released into the bloodstream. Did you know that melatonin regulates the sleep cycle? **Modern scientific research has not yet validated these historical claims. * Statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. |
